College of Accountancy grabs 4 awards at USP’S Finest 2009. It was only in the year 2004 when they grabbed the highest number of awards for USP’s Finest-college level. This 2009, they have done it again!
The college of Accountancy under the leadership of their vice dean Mr. Ricardo Danlag got the highest number of awards in the recently concluded USP’s Finest 2009 at the Eladio Villa Gymnasium, USPF Lahug last March 6, 2009. On the lead was Ma. Kriselva Ferrer for KII, the highest Award, followed by Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) – USPF Chapter for KII Award for Outstanding Student Organization,  Michael Angelo Abarcar for Don Agustin Jereza and Joseph Angelo Mancera for Arts and Culture. For eight consecutive years now since USP’s Finest was initiated in the year 2002, the College of Accountancy never went home empty handed. Every year has always been a victory for the college.
Moreover, among the winners were: college level-Monica Hara of the AB English (Doña Beatriz Jereza Award); secondary level-  Boi Archivald Ranay (Arts & Culture), Kembenz Mark Rizon (Young Agustin Jereza), Joan Marie Arcayan (Young KII Award); elementary level- June Patrick Villaflor(Panther Award), Lorenn Marie Aujero (Little Beatriz Award), Matt Isaiah Attaway (Little Agustin Jereza Award).
USP’s Finest is the most highly celebrated and anticipated annual event of the university.  It is the occasion when the finest sons and daughters of USPF who made a difference in their quest for Knowledge, Integrity and Industry are awarded for such achievement. These students brought honor inside and outside the university thus they deserve to be called as the finest among USPians.
Tough Selection Process. USP’s Finest, the brainchild of our university president Dr. Alicia Cabatingan in cooperation with SPS-SAO director Mr. Lucio Pulmones, is known for its tough selection process starting from the departmental screening going up to the final selection which is the panel interview where prominent university officials sit as board of judges. High standard criteria include: academic excellence, character, leadership skills and community involvement. Now, another year has passed which marks a new beginning to all USPians. The recurring question is WHO WILL BE THE NEXT USP’s FINEST?

Composed of Harry Appelman (piano), Mark Merella (percussion), Josh Schwartzman (bass) and Sam “Seguito” Turner (percussion), this Latin Jazz group from the United States of America played tunes from their album that left the audience in awe. On March 23, 2009, the day after their memorable concert, the Duende Quartet conducted a workshop for USPF AB Music students at the Don Sulpicio Go Moot Court, USPF Lahug. These musicians gave a deeper view about their music---what made it different and how it related to other music genres, and shared to the USPian music students the experience on how their type of jazz is played. The Cebu Arts Council through Mr. Ariel Perez, coordinator for AB Music at USPF, and the College of Arts and Sciences dean Mr. Daniel Larriba, Jr. made the enriching activity possible.
