USPF holds ARTS Advocacy Series 5

The University of Southern Philippines Foundation holds the 5th season of Alumni Relations Transform Society (ARTS) on July 24, 2015 at the Moot Court.

Under the theme, "Personality & Photography", the advocacy opens with the ARTS Exhibit featuring the works of Mr. Homer Flores wherein assistant to the president for planning and development Dr. Lucio A. Pulmones attends to the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon assisted by chief information officer Mr. Lester Gastala, ARTS co-chairperson Dr. Alvin E. Zamora, and ARTS chairperson Dr. Kathleen B. Solon-Villaneza.

Call for papers to Mens Sana Journal

Mens Sana, an ISSN and copyright registered journal of the USPF College of Arts & Sciences (CAS), welcomes paper contributions for the next issue. Requirements for submission and acceptance of articles are as follows: 

Out-text:
1.  Style and Font – Times New Roman -12
2.  Margins and spacing – 1 inch both sides – 2 spaces
3.  1 soft copy, 1 hard copy- send by email to: angelpsuarez@yahoo.com
4.  No. of words:
Minimum- 2, 500
Maximum- 8, 000
·        In excess of the maximum the article will be divided into 2 contributions.

In-text:

Format: formal essay, academic writing/critical discourse writing, technical report and academic research paper

1.  Academic writing

a.  A form of writing that explores/explains/discusses a concept, theory or principle to a target audience or addressee, giving it a “fresh” or new perspective, or viewpoint.
b.  The subject may be original (theory, concept etc.) or may have arose from another idea, concept, theory or principle.
c.  The writer shall follow the format of a formal essay: introduction/background of the discourse, presentation of the idea or the body of the discourse, conclusion/summation.
d.  All borrowed information/data must be cited using the APA style for in-text citation (see photocopies).

2.  Critical discourse writing

a.  It presents a subject/s or problem/s to be critically analyzed utilizing critical theories that may be  philosophical, literary, scientific, or mathematical.

3.  Academic research paper – any research work on the social, natural/physical sciences either experimental or non- experimental. Problem statement is summarized written in essay form. Analysis, interpretation of data and results, (aside from tabular presentations) and implications are discussed in narrative form.


4.  Technical Writing – This type of writing is used in the systematic presentation of facts/data such as the style used in pharmacological assay, procedural report writing in engineering and architecture, including applied sciences.
