Surgeon and Philanthropist

Ed is best known for his generous contributions to the USP Alumni Association Incorporated (USP-AAI) Scholarship Fund and for his inspiring philanthropic response to Haiti 2010 with partner pediatrician-wife Dr. Lucie Noel Gamboa. 

An American College of Surgeons fellow, Ed serves as chief of surgery at El CentroRegional Medical Center in California. He is a columnist of  The Asian Journal, writes for BisayaBulletin.com, publishes informative articles and academic papers at Blogspot, and the respected author of Virtuous Healers: Models of Faith in Medicine and From Mt. Krizevac to Mt. Carmel. 

Travel, literature, philosophy and religion are among Ed's interest.  

Ed and wife Lucie are parents to three sons and one daughter. They live  in California, USA.

President, Doce Pares Eskrima Club

Born in August 1919, Cacoy is a Filipino martial artist of the Doce Pares Eskrima Club. He is the last surviving member of the club, which was founded in January 1932. He is a 12th degree black belt. His version of the Doce Pares Eskrima system is known as Cacoy Doce Pares. In 1951 he developed a personal system of his named Eskrido.

Founder, World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (WEKAF)

Dionisio belongs to the second generation of the famous Martial Art advocates, the Cañete brothers of Cebu City, Philippines. He is the youngest son of GM Eulogio (Ylong) Cañete, the principal organizer of Doce Pares, who headed the organization since its founding in 1932 until his death in June 1988. 


Dionisio began his lessons in the Filipino Art in 1946 at the age of eight from his father and brother Iluminado, the eldest of the five children (4 sons and a daughter) of Eulogio and Irenea Aventurado. 

He studied under GM Felimon "Momoy" Cañete and later with GM Ciriaco "Cacoy" Cañete, both brothers of his father. He also trained with GM Vicenter Carin and Maximo Cañete.
